A lot of the stage is a 'space shooter' type design, which is a neat idea, but it is used too long.

Secondly, the stage lacks interesting flow. Normal gameplay of this mission can easily take half an hour or even longer, which is way too tedious. The second part would be on the alien mothership and escaping back to Earth. We could have had some decent platforming run and gun shooting, facing off against the Alien Hi-Do, before reaching Rootmars Ship. The first part could have been how Marco, Eri, Fio and Tarma reached the rebel space station. It's not as bad as things like Mission 5 from Metal Slug 7/XX, but I would rank it pretty low.įirst of all, this mission is way too long ! They should have split this mission into 2, and thus created the normal amount of missions - 6, in a Metal Slug Game. In fact, I would say it's one of the worst missions in Metal Slug History. However, I think the final mission was a low point in the game. Zombies, Mutant Crabs, Man-Eating Plants and Security Drones were all extremely novel ideas. Out of the 5 missions, the first 4 missions really do a good job of setting up the Alien Threat in this game's story. It built on the foundations of it's predecessors and ramped up the quality design in the missions, especially with the alternate paths for extra replayability. It has so many creative concepts and interesting levels that make for an extremely fun experience.

Metal Slug 3 is an excellent game, overall.
